Here, have some random

September 16th, 2010

I ran out of shampoo today and was forced to use the only other shampoo in the shower – my fiance’s. It was labeled “For Men”. Have you noticed how men’s stuff all smells about the same? My hair now smells like… man scent. Ugh.

Though I have a lot piled on me at work, I decided to take some time to rewrite old code. This is something I really enjoy doing. I just… hate bad code, even if it’s my own. It feels good to replace bad code with better code… and to see how I’ve improved!

I went shopping for a couple things for my Halloween costume. I know, it’s over a month away, but as you probably know, I like costumes :3 I’m going as [bleeeeeeeeep will be shown later].

While out shopping, I also bought a few packs of 12V batteries, which is what our garage door opener takes. Mine ran out, so I’ve had to close it from the inside, run out before it closes, and then jump over the sensor so it doesn’t open back up. I um… hope neighbors weren’t watching me. It looks quite silly.

It’s already 1:30AM, and I really should stop this habit of staying up late. I thought it was a phase I’d grow out of once I finished school, but… nope! Still as nocturnal as ever. Time to do nothing for the next couple of hours, then wake up feeling really tired. I never learn.

Con recap

September 7th, 2010

I woke up this morning, not wanting to go to work. It was partially because I just had a 3 day weekend, but mainly because it was still dark and raining heavily. Apparently a tropical storm is passing through Texas. Sigh, it’s been gloomy and rainy all day. While driving home, I have my windshield wipers on full speed, yet it doesn’t seem to do enough. I can barely see.

But, I’m glad it’s doing this now and not yesterday when I was driving back home from Dallas. Speaking of which, I have photos up from AnimeFest!

It’s less photos than usual since I spent a lot of time in panels. I went to a sewing one and a pattern making one; though I already knew most of the stuff, I still picked up a few good tips. I saw a demo for styrospray, and now I really want to try it out for prop making. We also went to WTF Japan (weird/crazy videos from Japan), the Anime music video contest, and the cosplay skit contest, which were all really fun to see.

The longer I go to Anime cons, the less I seem to buy. Though, that is a good thing XD;; Here’s what I bought:

Anyway, that was a fun trip. I guess I’ll end my entry here. The storm sounds bad outside, and I’m hoping my power won’t go out =/

Hello September

September 1st, 2010

Well, it’s September, and I have 2 trips planned for this month ;) The first one is actually coming up really soon, this coming weekend. I’ll be driving to Dallas, which is 3 hours away from me, to attend an Anime con (AnimeFest).

We originally wanted to do a Spirited Away cosplay group. I even finished sewing my Haku costume (the wig still needs trimming though). And just because, after all that work, I feel the need to show each layer :3

First, I use a compression vest to flatten my boobs. (Haku is a guy after all.) Then I put on the blue under garment, which will show through the slits in the top and pants.

Then I put on the rest of the costume! The white top is made with a heavier cotton, and the pants have drawstrings at the bottom to make that puffy look.

However, due to unfortunate planning, our Chihiro cosplayer will be out of town, and our No Face cosplayer didn’t finish his costume. So, we’re using previous costumes this time, which doesn’t bother me. I like having another chance to use my Sakura costume!

Later this month, fiance and I are flying up to Seattle. One of our friends is getting married =D Within the past year, so many of my friends have been engaged. This will be the 3rd wedding we go to this year. I suppose it’s about the “right” age for us. It suddenly seems weird to refer to someone’s significant other as their “wife” or “husband”. I’m still not totally used to using the term “fiance”.

We also have other friends there, so we booked a few extra days. I feel like half of my friends stayed here in Austin, while the other half moved to Seattle after college. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to it!
