Website memories

July 29th, 2011

Lately, I’ve been working on re-archiving past layouts I’ve made for my sites. I say “re” because I had a site that archived them before, but I stopped updating in 2008. I wanted to re-code the site and also take better screenshots of the layouts.

Well… I procrastinated. I finally moved the site to WordPress, and now it’s back up: Distant Memory.

I didn’t archive all of my sites. From 1999 to now, I’ve created over 40 sites. During my earlier webdesigning years, I also changed layouts every month (which drove me crazy when I was archiving Shattered Wings). Apparently when I was younger, I had a lot more time for this stuff ^^;;

I tried to archive only the major sites I’ve done, and well… also ones that weren’t too embarrassing. It is fun to look back on past works, but there is a lot of “*facepalm* I can’t believe I did that” moments. For example, here are some of my earliest works:

Well, hello there July

July 12th, 2011

I’m not sure why, but I feel like I’ve been losing track of time lately. I think it’s because I’ve been busy with several things, so time just flew by. June seemed to pass quickly, and July caught me by surprise. I mean, have you ever had one of those days where you just had no idea what day it was…?

For example, I knew I had a work release on the 12th (today), but yesterday, I didn’t even realize it was already the 11th until someone reminded me. So… I’m actually staying late for work tonight. I finished all of my features and defect tickets though, so I thought I’d use this down time before the actual release to catch up on blogs XD;;

This past weekend, there was a small Anime convention in town, so I went to check it out with a couple friends. I decided not to cosplay this time and to offer free photoshoots to cosplayers instead. Well, we showed up, and it was a pretty disappointing. The convention center it was in was hideous. Both the outside and inside seemed unusable for photoshoots. We just had to make the best of the situation. We used an external flash, so we could light the cosplayer and darken the background, hopefully hiding some of the venue’s ugliness.

Here are a few that I took:

I’m still working on editing the rest, but there’s a few more on my Flickr. My Cosplay gallery has some non-photoshoot photos from the convention as well!

Oddly enough, I don’t have many plans for July, so my life has been boring lately. But, perhaps I should be thankful for this down time before things pick up closer to my wedding date. Later on, I’ll probably wish I had less to do XD;;
