The boring life of a homeowner

My legs are sore. If I said it was from doing yard work, most people wouldn’t believe me. For me, lawn care is the downside of owning a house. I know some people like landscaping and gardening, but it’s really not my thing. Weeds have been popping up in our yard though, so on Saturday, my husband and I worked on pulling them out. We started with this patch:

Probably hard to tell from the photo, but those weeds were about 5 ft tall! It’s at a side of our house we don’t really see and was behind a bush. It grew unnoticed until it turned into a mini weed jungle.

Wedding planning recap

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday, whether you celebrate Valentine’s or not :) I got a nice surprise yesterday. It wasn’t from my husband though. It was from my wedding photographer who sent me a short video of our wedding. You can view it here if you’d like!

That reminded me that I’ve been wanting to write about my wedding planning experience. I learned that it’s more stressful and that I cared about the details more than I originally thought. I’m not the type who had a “dream wedding” in mind or thought about it much beforehand. I am, however, the “perfectionist” type, which made me very particular about what I wanted at the wedding. Productive Saturday

Well, I got started on one of my New Years resolutions today:

Finish cleaning, decorating, and furnishing our house.

Though, it wasn’t the resolution that motivated me. It was the oh crap we have friends over tomorrow and our house is a total mess that did it. We’re hosting a party for the Super Bowl. To be honest, I don’t really care about the Super Bowl. I’ll watch college football to cheer for my alma mater, but I don’t care for pro football. I do love having friends over and making food though!

We plan on braising bacon, which will then be cut, seared, topped with a homemade apple slaw, and served as a slider. I’m also making my mint chocolate chip cookies :) It’s apparently hard to find an uncut slab of bacon? It took us 4 tries! A lot of meat counters seem to get their bacon cut up already.
