I’m back in town! Well, I never posted that I was out of town, but I was this past weekend. I drove to Houston (2-3 hours away) to visit a friend and to go to an Anime convention (Anime Matsuri).
My husband isn’t into Anime cons, so instead of dragging him to it, I made the drive alone, then went with my friend. While I was gone, he texted me that he watched a 27 episode show from start to finish and has been playing video games. I figured he was just lazy while I was gone. Instead, I got home to find the dishes and laundry done. *insert shocked face here*
I couldn’t decide between cosplaying and doing photography at the con, so I did a bit of both. I wore my Knives Chau costume and also brought my DSLR. Because Knives isn’t from an Anime and her outfit is very simple, I didn’t think it’d attract much attention. I was wrong about that and had to keep putting down my camera and bag every time someone wanted a photo of me. I will have to reconsider this combination ^^;;
I don’t have all of my photos posted yet, but here’s a few!

The photos above are taken with my 35mm f/2 lens, by the way. As mentioned in my last post, I’d like to review my lenses. I plan on reviewing either this 35mm or my 50mm f/1.8 soon :)
Up until this con, I hadn’t cosplayed in over a year, so it was nice to get back into it. I plan on going to 2-4 more cons this year!

I really want to go to an Anime Convention one of these days and cosplay :D It seems like a lot of fun!
For someone who hasn’t watched anime in a while, I thought I wouldn’t recognize any of the cosplays, but I actually do :D
Looking forward to your lenses review!
Cosplays are so much fun. I’m not very much into anime (though I have watched a few, thanks to my brother) but i play video games a lot so there. I go to local cosplay events to take pictures and support my cosplay-addicted friends.
OMG, I always wanted to cosplay but I’d never be able to pull it off!
These people can do it so amazingly well – wow. I always browse online photos of people who cosplay etc.
Actually, I’ve always wanted to go to an anime convention….one day :)
I did cosplay once when a friend of mine lend me her costume. it was so fun and I felt like I was an anime myself. hihi. Cool costumes btw!
As it turns out Anime Boston & PAX were the same weekend! Wow! I’m so out of the Anime circle I don’t know what’s going on. I went to AB last year to see Girugamesh and saw many wonderful cosplays.
I’m glad you had fun! Hahah Your husband must’ve been really bored or is just really wonderful! XD
Your photos are so HQ & eyegasmic.
No matter what convention it is, a comic book convention, anime or video games, people will dress up as all sorts of characters haha. Though it does make it more fun and interesting.
I also like to cosplay and do photography, so your Knives Chau costume was definitely a wonderful idea. I bet you looked exactly like the character, yet you were comfortable enough to hold a camera and shoot it. :)
Loving your pictures! The Alexstrasza costume is the best!!!
LOLLLOL SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE FOUND A PRETTY AWESOME HUSBAND ;D men can be such slobs sometime hahaha
haha Knives Chau! Yeah, the costume is pretty low key and it looks like one of the more easier costumes to move around in so that is a good choice!
wow nice photos! really sharp! *0* love the Link oncosplays a lot!
oh and to answer your comment~~ i honestly don’t remember if they have a curry that looks gross and tastes bad XD but it sounds like something they’d have lol!
Houston sounds really nice! I wish my car was in better condition in order to drive 15+ hours away! I need a vacation! I have SO much going on in my life right now, the stress is driving me INSANE! I need a true break! I need to relax on a private island or ocean beach!
Where is a picture of your costume Cat?! But those photos you’ve taken are amazing! Looks super nice! *__*
I’ve ben to an anime convention once, didn’t cosplay though. I don’t think I have the guts! XD
If I would wear a costume…it’d be like a fancy kimono. I want to dress like a pretty geisha!…even though geisha’s aren’t really a good thing, lol.
But your husband sounds like a sweetie pie! How nice of him to do that! And from the sound of it, not too often. Haha! How cute. XD
Haha, I bet he was trying to surprise you with a clean house! And he succeeded! :)
I love Knives Chau, I totally understand why people were stopping you to take photos! You look really good as her!! Btw, who is the person in the last photo supposed to be? I can’t figure it out D:
And I looked through your portfolio website, and zomg those cakes!!! They look so professional, I had to reread the description to make sure you made them! You inspire me so much :D I want to bake cakes now~
Thanks! I think the last photo is the human form of Alexstrasza from World of Warcraft.
haha, I did make those cakes :D I have a site on them too!

I can’t get over how your photography skills are so amazing =( Puts me to shame. I would definitely wanna learn from you ^__^ Can’t wait for your reviews. I don’t even have a professional camera, but it’s always exciting to see lens reviews.
hehe it must have felt nice to come home with clean laundry and dishes are done!
Such neat pics! I can’t wait for the rest of them.
Also, that is the best surprise. To find your place all neat and tidy.
Wow, cosplay~! I cosplay too. Sucks I don’t live in the US. I could’ve met you along the way if I did. Do you do link exchanges? I’m pretty much into the same stuff as you are. ^^
I have always wanted to have a go at cosplaying! I’m a big comic book geek and I’m really into Batman comic so I’d love to go to a comic con as Harley Quinn. My boyfriend says that I need to dye my hair blonde haha! Conventions like these look like so much fun but they don’t have any where I live, or at least I haven’t heard about them.
All of the outfits look great! I love the Zelda one.
I really have to go to a Anime con one of these days. I would love to especially since I’ll never put my camera down lol
You look great in your costume!
OH MY GOODNESS!!! On your cosplay.com page you posted one of the best shots of me ever and I love you so much for it T^T I was the Caroline cosplayer (Portal 2) and I appreciate your apparent shared interest in one of my favorite games, as well as actually recognizing my costume and taking a pic of it <3
I’m so glad that you like the photo! I could send you a larger version of it if you’d like.
I loveeee the Portal series, and your cosplay was the first time I saw a Caroline cosplay XD I thought it was really cool!
