Home Decor – Guest Room

May 28th, 2014

Well, I managed to finish a couple tasks from my last entry, which leads to this post about our guest room :) I’ve been working on tidying it up lately.┬áIt should really be called the “hand me downs” room because every piece of furniture in it is something that we used to use. For example, the bed and nightstand were mine before my husband and I moved in together.

I went with a green theme to the room, which you can see by the bedsheets and curtains. I made the curtains myself, though I’m not sure if it saves money since the fabric + notions comes out to $30+. I really did it because there’s a larger variety in prints, and I can make them in the style I want.

Memorial Day Weekend

May 24th, 2014

Phew, it’s nice to have a 3-day weekend after a busy week. I actually didn’t realize it was a 3-day weekend at first and almost scheduled a meeting for Monday. Fortunately, a coworker stopped me from doing it XD;;

This past week was the first week for our summer interns. We have a lot this time around – 30 of them! My team got 3 dev interns and 2 test interns. We decided to give all of them a week of training this year – first day/intro, Ruby on Rails, automated tests, Javascript, and the tools we use. I plan to do some relaxing this weekend, but I’d also like to stay productive. Here are some goals I’ve set for myself:

1. Hang up prints and art blocks in our game room. These to be specific:

Weekend Productivity

May 11th, 2014

If you’ve been following my blog or instagram for a while, you might remember that back in November, I bought a bunch of parts during Black Friday to make a brand new computer.

And then… those parts just sat around for months. I was excited for a new PC, but my PC at the time was still running and playing modern games at decent settings (even though it was 5 years old). So… I procrastinated because I didn’t want to deal with reinstalling programs and finding product keys.

After much laziness, I’m finally on my new computer :) My husband kept nagging me about it until I forced myself to take it in steps.

  1. First, I built it with the new SSD in it but none of my hard drives from my old computer. This let me at least start it up, install the OS, and begin installing some programs.
  2. I began moving over the products that need to be deactivated on my old PC and reactivated on the new one (namely Rosetta Stone and Adobe products).
  3. I moved over my photos hard drive, back-up hard drive, and my Lightroom install.
  4. Finally reactivated the remaining products (including the OS) and moved my main hard drive over to be used as the main storage.

And so, here it is in all its glory!
