A work day through photos

July 31st, 2014

I love Tiff’s idea of recording an entire day through photos, so I decided to try the same :) I chose a work day, so all of my photos are either with my phone camera or small camera that I carry in my purse. It was less awkward to pretend I was walking while looking at my phone, when I was really using it to take photos, haha.

I’d like to do this again, perhaps on a weekend when I can carry around one of my bulky DSLRs. I also kind of went overboard on photos. There were many more that I decided not to post since I was almost at 50 photos already… Here is my day (7/29) through photos!

What I’m up to, #3

July 21st, 2014

What I’m sewing

I haven’t started working on a new cosplay of my own yet, but a coworker has commissioned me to make an Elsa (Frozen) costume for his 9 year old daughter :) I’m currently in the research phase, where I’ve ordered several fabric swatches and am starting to think of how I’d draft the pattern.

This is a first for me because I’ve never made a children’s costume before. I’ve made my own, for a friend who is a bit taller than me, and for two guy friends. In other words, I’ve never made a costume as small as this. I’m not used to it! Hopefully I’ll still be able to pull it off :)

July so far

July 12th, 2014

Aah July, we are now past the halfway point of the year. Crazy, right? July is also…

My work anniversary: I started working at my current company on July 2, 2007. That means I hit my 7 year mark! I joined one year after the company started, back when it was a new, small start-up with around 30 people. It was a risk I decided to take since I was fresh out of college. If it didn’t work out, I’d hop to another start-up. Well, here we are 7 years later at over 300 employees. It’s been exciting to see it grow :)

PAX South badges: PAX is a huge gaming expo run by the Penny Arcade guys. Gaming companies large and small go to exhibit their games, some of which haven’t been released yet. I’ve been to PAX East in Boston twice and was super excited when they announced that PAX South will be starting in Texas in January 2015. It’s in San Antonio, only 1.5 hours away by car, so I don’t have to fly to go to PAX anymore! I immediately bought 3-day badges when their sale started a few days ago. Good thing I did because they sold out in less than 2 hours!

San Japan: Is an Anime convention, also in San Antonio, that I normally do photoshoots for other cosplayers at. I’m going next week! I’ll show photos from it later this month :)
